so many things happening..

Today was an emotional day as we had to send Mom and Deidra on their way back to the states. We were able to find them a ride to the city with a family from school. they were very happy to not have to ride the bus again. They arrived in the Guatemala city this afternoon at their hostel with no problems and will fly out tomorrow morning. It was so amazing to have them here for a week, they were such a great help, but wow did it go fast. They did not get to see alot of Guatemala as they were mostly here for Zoe, but they did have a few adventures. On Sunday a few teachers from school took them on a hike near a volcanoes, they saw lots of poverty and even walked through a garbage dump, their eyes were opened wide. They also had a tour of the large market in town called the democracia. A mother from school gave them a cultural and very informative guide. Again they had a little culture shock, but they were happy to get a little glimpse of the real Guatemala. Here they are waiting in the back of building to go to the demo

Last few moments with Zoe

Zoe had her first IAS visit while Mom and Deidra were here. We visited tony's class and the Middle School, but not all classes as i was still a little afriad of all the germs. While at school we stamped her feet and hands in her baby book, check out the photo album on shutterfly.
Things work a little different here in Guatemala and he have had a struggle with this in the last couple days. Every baby born in Guatemala has to be registered and given a name at a special office within one month of being born. So we went Thursday to do this, thinking we had all the right documents. The doctor had forgotten to stamp one of the documents, so Tony went to his office and for that, but by then the office was closed. So this morning we went back and there system was down. We returned this afternoon to try again, but the power had just gone out, so we still do not have her registered:( We will try again Monday, hopefully she will officially have a name on Monday! We have an appointment made to May 12 to visit the US embassy and get her a passport. The list of documents needed for this is crazy long, so we are working on getting everything together so we hopefully only have to make one trip to the embassy.
Zoe had her first McDonalds experience today, she slept the whole time:)
Zoe's schedule has been improving with everyday. She is awake more during the day and sleeping for longer amounts of time at night! We are excited to be just the three of us for a just a little bit before Jerry and Sheila arrive on Sunday. We have a few fun things planned while they are there. Pray they have as good of travel as my family did.
One more thing.. the rainy season has begun. It rained last night for the first time in 6 months and it is raining as I write this. So this means it will rain everyday for the next 6 month. I love the rain because everything is green again and the streets don't smell quite as bad, but it just makes it hard to do anything outside. Ok, that is enough for now, more pictures and stories to come:)

Tony and Danielle,
What a sweetheart you have there. I have been reading up on your life once in a while especially when I knew you were coming close to your due date.
Praise God for Zoe. She's beautiful!
We hope to see pictures soon with Grandpa Jerry and Grandma Sheila. We pray for safe travel. Love to all, Aunt Melinda
