After three days of school, we could not be more happy. I (Danielle) am loving the middle school. I have 6th graders as my homeroom, so I see them three times a day. They are soo well behaved and really excited to be in the middle school, I am having a blast with them. I have 7th grade for 1 period a day and they are a little more of a handful, and there are 15 of them. But it is still fun and I just have to be a little more mean. And finally I have 8th grade(composed of three girls) for 2 periods a day. These girls like to talk and just hang out, which is tempting to do because there are only three of them, but we do our work and learn alot together! It is interesting that the biggest disciplinary problem we have so far is students speaking spanish. It is not suppose to happen at all, but as soon as they are in the hall or at lunch they speak spanish.
It's a new expereince for me teaching ESL students. They do not know english slang or idioms, which can make for funny situations. Yesterday in class a girl answered like three question in a row and I said, "wow, she's on fire." Not realizing that the students have never heard this saying before, so they all looked at her and were concerned because they thought she was literally on fire. I had to explain what it meant and they all thought it was really cool.
The best thing about IAS is their dedication to the christian faith. Although a wide vaiety of denominations is represented students know the Bible, they want to talk about thier faith I am am able to have good devotions and prayer with them every morning, it is my favorite part of the day.
Tony is also liking his classes. Even though 3 of the classes have 5 students or less:) He is really liking the elementary PE and being able to play with the kids. He already had middle school students tell him that he is not as mean as his wife:) I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing yet. He classroom is in the administrative building so he is able to see alot of staff and teachers throughout the day which he also enjoys.
That is all for now, sorry this got a little long, but it was a great week. I put new pictures of my classroom and students in the IAS folder, so you can check those out.
Be blessed!

I am so glad that teaching is going so well. Danielle, you have to realize you are the " strong" person in your relationship. Tony is such a pushover!!!!!! That's a good thing. Teaching sounds like fun where children are eager to learn!!. I am sure your time will go by quickly. How fun to have children eager to learn about Christ. Have a great and meaningful service. Miss you, Aunt Nancy

Wow! What an exciting times this is in your lives. It is so heart warming for me to visit your blog and see how "on fire" you are for the Lord. This is such a blessing as a parent to see the evidence of God's work in your lives. Have a great week of teaching. I love and miss you both, but know God is doing wonderful things through both of you! Mom S.
