un fin de semana divertido

After another busy week as school we were able to enjoy a very fun weekend. Friday night was girls and guys night. The guys hung out, played video games, whatever guys do when they are together:) The ladies were a little more out-going. We had a bridal shower for a gal at work that is getting married next month, it was a complete surprise! We played some fun games and shared some good advice. It was really fun to do an American tradition in Guatemala, it felt a little bit like home:) After the shower four of us headed to a restaurant for a little food, but mostly for alot of talking. Then we went to one of the girl's apartments, ordered pizza and talked for hours, it was wonderful!
Saturday we were lucky enough to have a visitor. Jeremy, a high school classmate of mine is studying Spanish in Antigua for a few weeks, so he came for a little visit. We were able to show him a little bit of xela and what our life is here. We took him to a Xelaju game. They played the rojos from Guate, which is there biggest rival. The game, fireworks and fans were crazy. Xelaju pulled off a 1-0 win, it was amazing.
Sunday we went to a church that many people from school go to. Of course we only understood a minimal amount because it was all in spanish. It was also 2 hours long on very hard wooden benches, but it was a good experience. At the end of he service I was sort of listening and I hear, "tres visitantes" and the pastor is looking right at us. He was asking us to stand up and introduce ourselves, so we did:) Anyway there was a lot of singing and all the words are on the projector, so we could sing along!
This afternoon we watched the first ever Rugby game in Guatemala. A teacher from school is crazy about rugby and has started a team here. They were able to play a team from Guate. rugby is a crazy sport, but the game ended with only 1 broken nose and it was very entertaining.
This week was the last week of the quarter already. I cannot believe the school year is 1/4 done already it has gone so fast. So we are busy preparing grades this weekend. Next weekend we are going to Mexico to renew our visas. the school is providing transportation and lodging, it should be a good time.
Please continue to pray for patience and wisdom while teaching and safety. God Bless.
(ps: new pictures coming soon)
