We have tried many new things in the last couple weeks. Some were great experiences, other were not quite what we were expecting, here's what we have been up to.
1. We tried Indian food. We both loved it, although I did not feel so well afterwards.
2. We tried Thai food. I thought it was alright, Tony liked only the meat, which wasn't very much of the meal, but we both felt fine afterwards.
3. We taught without electricity for two days. We got out of school early on Friday because the electricity was still not on.
4. Last but not least, dancing. Ok so here's the story. Many of the girls from school like to go out dancing on the weekend. When I told them that I have never really done that, they wanted to take me out, I thought it would be fun, so we decided to have a girls night out. Most dancing does not start until midnight or so but we started at about 11:00 not wanting to be out all hours of the night. We were at one club for about 15 minutes before the real excitement started. All of us Gringas were dancing together when this drunk old man comes up and wants to dance with me. So I just say NO and we form a tighter circle so he cannot get in. Before we know it another guy steps over and pushes the old guys to the ground. Then another man comes up screaming in or face saying we are bad for business. At this point we realize we need to leave, but are unable to because a fight had broken out because I would not dance with an old drunk man. People are yelling, we don't know what going on and then Freddy, one of the girls' boyfriends who is a Guatemalan gets punched in the face. We finally squeezed ourselves out of there and rapidly walked away. So my first dancing experience only lasted 20 minutes and resulted in a blooding and puffy face:WOW. For all of you reading this thinking that I am stupid and putting myself in dangers way, this is very uncommon and none of the girls have ever seen anything like this, so don't be scared because I am planning on trying the dancing thing again sometime!:)
That's all for now, we had a great week of school and we are really enjoying the Central American life!
