So today was our first day at the school. It was about a 40 minute walk to school this morning. So we will be plenty awake by the time we get to school. We think we found a street that may cut a few minutes off, so we are going to try that tomorow-hopefully it is safe and we don't get lost. The school is on top of a giant bluff that over looks the city and mountains. It makes for an amazing view, but not a nice hike up to school. We were sweating and out of breath by the time we got to the office:( We will be getting some good workouts, but it is good for us.
The morning was full of meetings and tours. In the afternoon we got our health insurance set up, which was quite the process, but we got it done. We then had a few moments to spend in our classrooms looking through our curiculum. I was surprised to find out that along with my three math courses I will be teaching 2 history courses. I like history and I am really looking forward to it, I will just be alot busier than I had planned. Tony will be teaching 1 elementary PE course, 1 middle school PE course, mathematics in business for seniors, a middle school elective yet to be decided and another high school elective yet to be decided. We feel alot better after today and understanding the school, but we have a week of orientation and mettings yet, much is to be learned yet.
We are really enjoying the other staff members of IAS. Everyone is positive, caring and christ loving, it is such a great atmopshere. Tonight a fellow new staff member came over for a couple hours to talk and hang out and it was great. We really feel like we will come away from here with some great friends!
Keep the emails and comments coming, we will try to respond as much as possible. Love you all.
