Yesterday was Parent Teacher Conferences and I loved it. I always enjoy talking to the parents. Parents at IAS are very supportive and only want the best for their children. Most of them also have realistic expectation for their kids so it is easy to talk to them and get their help. I only had a translator with 2 parents and the rest I did myself. I even translated for one of the new teacher, I was pretty proud of myself. By the end of the three hours my brain was fried and I ended up canceling Spanish lesson for the night because I figured I had had enough practice. Tony also had a good time with his parents, but because he never blogs that’s about all I can write about that.
Just because I thought I wasn’t busy enough(haha) I decided to tutor another student. So now I am tutoring an 8th grade girl in science and history on Mon. and Wed. and a 5th grade boy in math on Tues. and Thurs. So that will keep me plenty busy, but it will also be a little extra cash!
Next week is Octember Fest in the Middle School. It is pretty much homecoming for Middle School. Because we don’t have any sports or extra curricular activities it is pretty much a week of craziness. Everyday is a different dress up day, we will be selling snacks everyday and Thursday we play games in the afternoon and crown pumpking and pumpqueen. Last year it was a big hit and I think this year will be the same!
I have really been missing the fall weather of the Midwest. We have had stretches of 5 or 6 days when we don’t see the sun because it never stops raining. I miss the brisk air, the crunchy leaves and going to fall sporting events. None of those things are even close to possible hereL
We are thinking about going to the coast this weekend to get a little sun, but that may also involve riding a chicken bus, so we will see how I am feeling. I also want to do a little random shopping this weekend. I need to buy more pillows, I have not been sleeping well. We need a few things for the kitchen and we still don’t have any curtains. We are also in the process of making a warm blanket for our bed because it is getting cold here. There is a new store in town called Cemaco. It is hard to describe, it has everything you can imagine and everything is so nice. It’s like walking into a store in the states. It is pretty crazy how excited we get over something like this, but it is such a treat and we are hoping to get all the things we need there.
One more thing, Tony did an amazing thing of lining up a cleaning lady for once a week! I think he was sick of doing the dishes and mopping, so he did something about itJ She will be coming every Wednesday afternoon.
OK, that is enough for now. Have a great weekend everyone.

Way to go Tony! I'm so proud of you. Having a cleaning lady is a must for two tired teachers. Sounds like you had a very good week. Hope all three of you get some much needed rest this weekend!

Sounds like you are keeping busy over there. That chicken bus ride would really scare me---tell that driver to slow down some!!!!
It really looks like fall here. The lawns are covered with leaves and when the sun comes out [we have had dark rainy weather for days] then i will get the mower out and chop them all to bits!!! I used to rake and bag them but my back can't take that anymore.Take care love grandma v w
Danielle, you really need to stop being overinvolved in things... it's not good for you (as if I should talk). Hopefully you are feeling well, and hopefully the sun shines a little bit more. Have fun shopping! And enjoy having a cleaning lady...(lucky!)
Love you both!
