Long Weekend

After a busy week of school, we are enjoying a 3 day weekend. We do not have school Monday because it is Central American Independence day, we are not doing anything special but it is sure nice to have an extra day off!
After our crazy day Tuesday we had a crazy day Wednesday at school, but it went great. It was picture day. We take the all school picuture outside. The photographer gets of the roof and takes a picture of everyone, usaully it is so bright out, no one can even open thier eyes, but this year it was cloudy, so hopefully the picture will be great.

It was also hot lunch day, we enjoyed a wonderful meal of chicken, potatoes, cucumbers and strawberries! Wednesday after school we had open house. Tony and I both had many parents come to our rooms and visit. We were both also very excited that we did not need help with our Spanish while talking with the parents. While are Spanish still needs alot of improving, it was encouraging that we could communicate with our parents! After the Open House was the first PTA meeting. I was preparing myself for at least a two hour meeting as that is the norm, all in spanish of course. All teachers were pleasently surprised when the meeting ended after only 45 minutes. It was a long but successful day!
Thursday I had my second Spanish lesson and it was fabulous. I love my Spanish teacher Nuelia and we really have a great friendship. She is a mother of two and very excited about the pregnancy and was full of advice for me. It's a great hour to not only practice my spanish as she does not speak any English, but also just spend time with a friend.
Last night we went to a local youth basketball game, it was pretty entertaining and really made us miss going to sporting events. After the game we went to Micheal's (IAS director) house for guitar hero and just hanging out. We didn't get home until after 11 which is a really late night for me, but I seem to have a little more evergy recently!
Today Tony is at a park with a couple friends and thier dog playing, and I am about to head out to a big crazy market in town to do a little shopping with the girls. It's all super cheap crazy stuff, I doubt I will buy anything but it will be good to walk around. We don't really have other plans for the weekend. Sunday our principal, who started rugby in Guatemala is hosting a tournament of many teams, so we will check that out I am sure.
I want to ask you all to pray for all those being affected by Ike, a few families of teachers in the Houston area had to evacuate and it's hard for them being so far away from family, so please keep them in your prayers.
That's all for now, have a great weekend everyone!

Hey,
It's good to hear that the rest of your week was not quite as crazy and emotional as Tuesday. Tony, don't you know that straggling a student is not an effective means of earning his cooperation?? ;) Hopefully all is well, and you enjoy your long weekend! Love you both!

Darci
p.s. if you have more pictures, you should probably post them... like an ultrasound or something?? ;)

Oops, that is supposed to say strangling not straggling...
