Where to start...... lets start with the pregnancy!
We were confirmed in our suspicions of pregnany on Aug 2. I went to the doctor and she informed me that I was 8-9 weeks along. Since we were leaving for Guatemala in a week, we decided to tell everyone while we were still around. Although this was definetly not in our plans for this year and we were quite shocked when we found out, we are so excited. God's timing is often different than ours, but it is always right, so we are excited to be parents and preparing to have a baby in Guatemala. We have not yet found or even really tried to find a doctor, I am waiting to talk to some parents and others in town that we know for some good suggestions. I know you probably all have a ton of questions about this all, but I just don't really know where to start, so please leave comments and I would be happy to calm your fears:)
Now on to our new apartment!
The apartment is about 10 times larger, but not quite as new. We definitely are more happy here. Danielle does have to go down the steps everytime she needs to go to the bathroom, which seems like about every 10 minutes, but she is doing fine. We first got here and we wiped down all of the walls and started painting so that the place would feel a little more like home. Here are some of the before and after pictures below. We just got our couch moved in yesterday so we are officially HOME.
above is before, below is after
Now again on being back in Guatemala!
We were welcomed back to this country in typical fashion. We left Guatemala City on a bus and we were making suprisingly good time, but then the transportation system reared its ugly head. After a repeated series of falling asleep and waking up, the bus came to a complete stop in the middle of nowhere. We then sat there for an hour while the mechanic (bus driver) tried to fix the bus. He did manage and we made it home in about 5 1/2 hours. It sure is good to be home! Danielle has gotten back in the swing of things and has already played cards with the girls from school twice. We are really looking forward to seeing all of the students again on Monday!
There has been a little drama at school already as one of the new middle school teachers decided she could not teach at IAS this year, it was a little scary and nerve racking being short a teacher just a few days before school. But after a few phone calls, moving of teachers to different positions and lots of prayer, the school has already found a replacement and things should be great. I(Danielle) am very excited about the Middle School year as we will have two young male teachers in the MS and hopefully that will make discipline and respect a little easier. I am so exited to see all my students again. Most of them already know that I am pregnant so that will be an extra exciting thing to talk about Monday!
Ok, this is long enough for now, hopefully we can keep you all updated through this first week of classes. Check out our shutterfly for pictures of our entire apartment and my classroom!
