Wednesday was an exciting day at school. I had Middle School Chapel in the morning. The subject was friendship and what it means to be a real friend. We did a few different activities, looked at examples of good friendships form the Bible and when decided how we ourselves could be better friends. One of the activities, that I thought was really good was reading 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, but replacing love with your name. That is a true test of a good friend. Try it once, it made me realize how much I need Jesus to be the kind of friend I want to be. They kids responded well and at least some of them thought deeper about the kinds of friends they are choosing and the kind of friend they are being.
Wednesday afternoon there were no classes as we had a school wide fine art festival. The festival included art, food and music. Musical performances ran the whole afternoon while the art and food exhibits were open to walk through at one's convenience. The Festival turned out to be my dance performing debut. As you know from previous blogs that I had sort of been teaching some of the girls how to line dance. Well they think it is the greatest thing ever and wanted to do it for the competition. So I taught it to them, but then they insisted that I dance with them, so I did. It ended up being really cute with our boots and cowboy hats, and the girls were thrilled! We even ended up getting 2nd place in the middle school division!

The star of the show was a 2nd grader named Estabon, soooo cute, check out the video.
The afternoon was a huge success, many parents showed up and kids were very proud to show off their talents. These sort of things are not common here in Guatemala, especially in a school setting, it was so great to see the kids perform and be so proud!
We don't have much planned for this weekend, lots of sleep and hopefully getting ahead on some school work.
Next week we only have 2 days of classes and then the Middle and High school have a three day spiritual emphasis retreat. We are going to a hotel and a group from Mississippi is coming to lead chapels and worship the kids are really excited, and I am excited to see the students in that setting!
I am feeling better, but not perfect, not sure what is going on. I should probably just go and have it checked out, but I am being too stubborn yet, we shall see??

Line dancing - that brings back memories of you doing that in Grandpa and Grandma basement. I have you on video line dancing and trying to teach it to Darci. Needless to say - we stopped video taping when you made me dance. Hope you start feeling better soon. We (VW ladies) all leave for Pella tomorrow for Jody's shower.
Love ya both, Vonda
Hey,
Sounds like you had a fun time! But, seriously, do you guys ever have a normal week of school? Haha, just kidding! I think you should probably go get your sickness checked out... especially since it's been a little while. Anyway, not much new here! Love ya and miss ya both!
