Christmas IS all around, and it makes me really want to be home, but it is fun to see the celebrations here. Yesterday I had chapel in the Middle School, and it was great! I split the students into groups of 4 and gave them each a Christmas song. They had to learn the history of the song, read a Bible verse that is related to it and then make a visual aid to represent the song. They were soo into it and did a great job. Usual chapel participation is sad to say the least, so it was really encouraging to see them engaged. Next week in Chapel they will be presenting their crafts, the song history and we will all see the songs together, it should be great!
Tonight we have a Christmas party to go to of the 6th graders. They are dressing up at Joseph and Mary and doing a whole procession thing, I am excited. Tomorrow night is the elementary Christmas program! I have heard it is really cute, so that should be entertaining. Next week we have out secret Santa event with all the staff of school, so we should be getting some good food!
What a great time Christmas is, but we have to remember what this is really about. Seeing family, going to parties, singing songs and giving and receiving gifts is great, but the Gift God gave has no comparison.
Yesterday I was reading the Story of Samuel and how Hannah asked God for him with great diligence, and when she finally had a child, she gave him wholly to the Lord- that is amazing, but again God gave us Jesus so we can share him with others and live in the forgiveness he gave us- the greatest gift we could ever receive!
Christmas is a celebration of the most amazing gift we could ever receive and we must not forget that!

There are so many things I want to tell you!! 1. You are created to be a teacher and God is using you...I can tell just by what you write and being able to envision your face when things click in the classroom and in chapel. 2. Sweet pic of Atitlan! Its not often that you can see both volcanos so well! 3. You blog about 'what God wants' is what I needed to read today. I truly believe that God lead me to your blog on this very day just so I could read that! You are amazing! Love you!! And I'll see you soon. Good luck with Chapel and everything else.
