An old friend's visit

This was the first in 4 weekends that we stayed in Xela and had a relaxing weekend, and boy were we ever lazy:) Friday night we had another birthday party of one of my 6th graders. There once again was wonderful food (subway!) and lots of dancing. For some reason my students here are very interested in line dancing, so again I tried to teach them line dancing:) (picture) After the party we made a big purchase. We used Tony's birthday money from his parents to buy a bigger tv! We were able to sell our little 13 inch and get a 20 inch and we are enjoying it!
Saturday we were so happy to have Lesa Holleman visit us in Xela. She has been living in Guatemala for almost a year working with the Peace Corp. We were able to show here around Xela, have some good food and have "college day" This is what we called Sunday because after church we came back to our apartment and all took about a 2 hour nap, ate more and then played video games and watched tv, before going back to bed for the night. We all felt like we were in college again and we loved it:) Monday morning she came to school with us before heading back to her Guatemalan home. It was really good to see a familiar face again, even though we hadn't seen each other in years. We reminisced about many old memories and had alot of laughs.
It will probably be quite awhile before the next blog as we leave Friday for Mexico. We will be traveling though Mexico for about a week for Semana Santa ( Holy Week) We are going with another married couple from school and are planning a very relaxing vacation. I'm sure we will return with many stories and tons of pictures.
Until then, be blessed and prepare to celebrate the risen Savior.

Who would have thought years ago when you were shooting hoops and jumping on the trampoline that years down the road you would both beliving in Guatemala. Just goes to show we never know where life may lead us. Tony, the pictures of the lava are unbelievable. Have a safe and relaxing vacation. Love ya both, Vonda

Hey!
Sounds like you two had a lot of fun with Lisa. And I totally agree with Vonda's comment: strange where life leads us sometimes. I'm back to class now, so life is normal again. Have fun in Mexico! Stay safe. We'll let you know (somehow) how Deidra's surgery goes. Love you both!

Tony and Danielle,
You guys need to look online at Spirit Air. They have flights going from Guate to Detroit for $129. You won't find them cheaper than that.
